When we say we’re going to “Throw something away”, where is “Away?”
There is no such thing and no such place.
The NO AWAY project is taking items that might otherwise be thrown away, and redirecting them into meeting the needs of houseless people who are also part of what many people in our society want to see as “away.”
There are no throw away resources and no throw away people.
The NO AWAY project seeks to meet the needs of folks in the houseless community by gathering materials, supplies, products, goods, and clothing that would otherwise end up in the landfill or sitting in someone’s garage, and reusing, repurposing, recycling, and redistributing these items to people in the houseless community.
NO AWAY focuses on supporting basic needs from sleeping mats to sleeping bags, toiletries to offering various forms of organizing and storage. I also look for specific needs for specific people who are clearly ready and wanting to transition from houseless to a home, and need very specific support to help them on that pathway to success.
